about jan

Hello! Thank you for coming to my website.

As a nearly lifelong Loomis area resident, it would be an honor and a privilege for me to serve on the Loomis Town Council.  If you are reading this then you may be asking why is she running? Or you may just want to know a little more about me.

My parents purchased our Loomis property in the 60’s and built our families business, Indian Creek Country Club, which has been operating for over 50 years now.  I attended local schools in the area and am a 1981 Del Oro Graduate. My daughter Meaghan is also a 2007 Del Oro Graduate. Go Eagles! I have a stepson, Kevin, who I adore, that lives in Boston with his lovely wife Jessye.  My husband Jim and I were thrilled to be able to repurchase our old family home adjacent to the golf course about 5 years ago.

To say that I am passionate about our town is an understatement! I have loved Loomis all of my life; it is my home town.  I have watched Loomis evolve since the 60’s and know its’s history well. I feel that I will bring much to the table should you elect me.  I come with business acumen and have many years of experience in various fields of work; general management, retail, restaurant, medical, construction, and of course golf course management. My educational background includes a Master’s in Business, along with a Bachelor’s degree in two concentrations: Business Management and Entrepreneurship, from Sacramento State University.

I have had the opportunity to work with the Loomis Chamber of Commerce for many years in several capacities.  I was President for two years, Vice-President for one and served a number of years as a member of the Board of Directors and am currently a sitting Board Member.  I also had a short stint as the interim Chamber Office Manager. I will continue to work within our community to develop businesses and encourage those that are already here to grow and thrive.  I will always be an advocate for business in our town.

The citizens of Loomis are the very heart of our town. I am a people person and know that great relationships can build and cultivate anything.  I would strive to build relationships among us and for the town. I am quite capable of conflict resolution and love to problem solve.  I am a very positive person in disposition, and I also have great strength in my convictions and am very determined in my resolve. The town of Loomis has had some tough battles with neighboring cities in the past and that has taken its toll.  I am committed to repairing relationships for our town while standing strong for future opportunities.  I will work extremely hard for the people of the Town of Loomis.

I appreciate the wonderful gifts that Loomis has to offer.  I know firsthand the pricelessness of our beautiful lands in our rural areas with our majestic oak trees and stately granite rock out cropping’s.  I truly am amazed at the natural beauty that we have all around us.  I love the fact that Loomis has retained its small town feel and I would never want to see that disappear.  I will fight to retain the character of Loomis that we all love so much.

I also realize the need for smart growth in areas designated as such. I am a proponent for carefully planned growth that will benefit our town and utilize our resources wisely as past leaders determined in our General Plan.

As a current Loomis Planning Commissioner, I’m active in the process. I carefully consider the projects as they compare to our General Plan. I listen vigilantly to everyone who comes before the podium, because I am genuinely interested in what they have to say.  I am a very careful person.  When it comes to making important decisions, I weigh all the facts provided to me and gather those that I feel necessary for me to make an informed decision.

Why am I running for Loomis Town Council?

This is an exciting time for Loomis, but a critical one. We must make careful decisions about growth and economic development which are crucial for the well-being of our people and our town’s infrastructure; all while retaining the charm of Loomis that we all hold dear. We need to repair strained relationships with our neighboring towns.  The Town of Loomis is something to be proud of and we need to conduct our town government with professionalism and a firm resolve to keep it that way.  I am ready and able to accomplish these important goals and help make important decisions with our other Town Councilmembers.  I am running for office to support the future of our town by offering my experience, personal resolve, professionalism and passion to the people of Loomis.
